Precautions When Using a Steam Shower

January 5th, 2010 by admin

‘Safety first’. As with most things, when not used correctly or abused a steam shower can cause harm. This article will touch on a number of different ways to stay safe when using a steam shower.

Steam Shower Precaution 1: Acclimatisation

When using a steam shower for the first time it is important to ease into the routine, not attempting to reach high temperatures immediately. First timers may have the inclination to stay in the steam shower for a long time as the experience is exciting and exhilarating, however, it is wise not to push the body too hard, therefore start off slowly.

Stay in the steam shower until your body tells you it’s time to stop. Listen to your body and don’t force it to stay in the steam shower longer than it feels comfortable. Everyone’s body is different: Therefore, it is hard to give one generic temperature that people can stay in the steam shower until. One can usually recognize when the body has had enough as you will start to feel uncomfortable. When this is the case, turn the steam function off and exit the steam shower. On your next steam shower session, follow the same procedure and listen to your body. Over time, as your body becomes acclimatized to the hot humid temperatures, you may be able to stay in the steam shower for longer and may be able to sustain higher temperatures.

Steam Shower Precaution 2: Food

While taking a steam shower it’s important not to bathe on an empty or a full stomach. On an empty stomach blood sugars may drop, causing the body to feel faint and weak. On the other hand it is important not to use a steam shower on a full stomach as blood, oxygen and water, which is used in cooling the body, is being used to digest the food. It is best to eat a light snack before using a steam shower.

Steam Shower Precaution 3: Hydration

The main effect a steam shower has on the body is to make it sweat. Sweating lowers the body’s water level, therefore it is critical to ensure one is well hydrated before and after a steam shower session. A deficiency in water can results in headaches and other problems. Prevent any problems and drink plenty of water before and after a steam shower session.

Steam Shower Precaution 4: Metal Jewellery, Contact Lenses

Temperatures in a steam shower can reach 44°C and above. These temperatures can cause metal jewellery to heat up and potentially burn the skin. Therefore, it is advised not to wear metal jewellery while using a steam shower. Contact lenses can also irritate the eyes while in the steam shower, therefore it is recommended to take them out before a steam session.

Steam Shower Precaution 5: Slipping

As with all showers and baths, it is possible to slip in a steam shower. Be careful when stepping in and out of the steam shower to avoid slipping.

Steam Shower Precaution 6: Rest

It’s important not to use a steam shower when your body is exhausted. A tired body cannot cope with the high temperatures of a steam shower as efficiently as a body that has a lot of energy. Ensure one is rested before using a steam shower.

Steam Shower Precaution 7: Fainting – Stand up slowly

Standing up to quickly and feeling faint has probably happened to most people at some time or another. It is especially important not to stand up too quickly in a steam shower as it may cause you to feel faint. Standing up quickly causes blood to drain from the head, which causes a faint feeling, or even causing the body to faint.

Steam Shower Precaution 8: Steam Outlet

The steam outlet on the steam shower is similar to a kettle in many ways. Water is boiled and is deposited into the steam shower through the steam generator. Steam is hotter than boiling water, therefore it is important to avoid contact with the steam outlet or be in close proximity to it while the steam function is operating.

“the Steam Kettle Rocket”

December 18th, 2009 by admin

Paying attention to simple techniques in physics in using simple ideas, such as the steam engine we could venture further into outer regions of our Universe without difficulties. Water tanks made of thick heavy-duty titanium steel that would withstand enormous pressure, attaché nozzles to them, filed them up with water to the ream of the nozzle, and freeze it. Attaché a control valve at the end of each nozzle to control the released heated pressure once heat is applied.

Take these tanks attach them, to rockets sent into space and stored them at the International Space Station for future use. Keeping them in orbit around the Earth, you could use them as the propellant fuel for travel to Mars and beyond.

These tanks attached to a spacecraft and properly controling the releasing of the steam pressure will control the speed of the spacecraft while in flight. Once the spacecraft is in motion in space it will continue its journey until stopped. In a trip to Mars, the tanks could be refill with water found in the planet, preferably sea water or salty water, freezing it to use on the return trip to Earth.

In theory, a cluster of these tanks filed with frozen water could remain in orbit attaché to the space station for future strips to the outer regions in space. Use of these tanks could be an inexpensive means of propellant fuel for future space travel.

The next step would be a simple matter of getting the Astronauts and a spacecraft like our space shuttle out in orbit. Attaching these tanks as a means of propellant to the space shuttle and in theory could propel the space shuttle on a journey to any region in space. This propellant could replace the dangerous and expensive ones used today.

During my research while conducting my experiments, I made several small workable samples of a steams engine. The first one was a small steam kettle where I attached a small gage to give me readings of the pressure inside the kettle. I then attached a small variable control valve at the end of the nozzle. I filled the kettle with water and placed it in the freezer overnight.

The following day I connected the kettle with the frozen water to a roller skate with four little wheels. I then began applying heat to the kettle with a burning torch. Watching the gage for the proper reading, when I saw the kettle starting to shake and to inflate like a balloon. Afraid that it was going to blow up I stopped applying heat.

I then carefully started opening slowly the valves. As I did, the kettle began to move in the opposite direction from where the steam was escaping. The more I opened the valve the faster the kettle moved forward. Showing the same principle would workto a spacecraft in space.

The second experiment I did the same, but with one exception I made the kettle much stronger able to withstand more pressure. In doing so I got the same results as the first but much more potent in pressure. The gage read a greater pressure double the pressure from the first.

In converting, the frozen water into steam the first kettle almost began to break apart, while the second held tight with no signs of stress in being stronger and thicker.

Further experiment showed that when using water with a high concentration of salt caused the water to boil hotter with more pressure. Seawater can be used and it is in great abundance through out the World. More likely also in other planets as well;

This experimen showed space travel to be less expensive, reliable, and feasible in reducing the time of getting spacecraft into further regions of the Universe.

Cordless and Electric Tea Kettles for Your Home

December 4th, 2009 by admin

Cordless electric tea kettles can be a part of anyone’s home. Tea can be a social event as much as it is relaxing! Enjoy your tea by sitting back and enjoying tea from a cordless and electric tea kettle. You no longer need to spend a lot of energy on your tea and you don’t need to worry about a cord either. Nowadays this convenience is becoming commonplace for appliances like steam kettles and tea kettles.

When you purchase your first tea kettle, check for the cordless and electric type. There are usually a wide variety to choose from if you go to a local department or appliance store to buy for your home. They fit well in your cabinet and even if they are not stored away they can be put on top of your counter to look attractive. Many are inexpensive such as ones at Amazon.com and are even in great shape. Specialty shops also are a great place to look for some kettles.

You don’t need to brew your tea like you do with other tea makers. Instead you can use your tea kettle to quickly make your tea in the morning or early afternoon. Tea kettles are very versatile as well because you can make jello, hot chocolate, and hot cider. This is great for the morning or cold winters where you don’t want to go out to brew your own drink.

In addition to your tea kettle you will usually get an entire set to help you make your tea; some things usually included are: flavored tea, ceramic tea pots, and your tea kettle of course. Make sure you take a quick look at the instructions so you know what your doing. Finally, just add a few tea bags, let them seep in and a few minutes later you will have your tea from your convenient electric tea kettle.

These make great wedding and birthday gifts. Most people will know you are thinking of them and actually know they have some use for the electric tea kettle as well. Everyone enjoys a cup of tea — be sure you get one for the home this holiday season.
